The Sunderbans National Park is located in Piyali in West Bengal. It is the largest Tiger Reserve of India. There are around 400 tigers over here. The park is covered with thick mangrove forests and houses wide varieties of birds, crocodiles, reptiles and various other animals. Ridley Sea Turtle is one of the main attractions of this park. In 1987, the park was inscribed as the UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE.

The main attractions of Sunderbans National Park are The Sajnekhali Sanctuary - which is known for a wide variety of enchanting birds, Netidhopani - a place where the ruins of an old temple 400 years old is found, Bhagabatpur - which has the largest estuarine crocodiles, Kanak - the nesting place of Olive Ridley Turtles, Kaikhali - an island and an ideal spot for picnic, Holiday Island - the resting place of Barking Deers and Piyali - the gateway to the Sunderbans forest. Piyali is an apt romantic destination. Sunderbans National Park can be visited from the months of September to May. During winters, tourists can see a lot of migratory birds and the Royal Bengal Tiger enjoying the sun on the banks of the rivers.

Dum Dum is the nearest airport in Kolkata while Canning is the nearest railway station. From Kolkata there are many modes of road transport to places close to Sunderbans National Park like Namkhana, Sonakheli and Sajnekhali. Sunderbans National Park can be reached by waterways only. So at these places motor launch services are available for easy and safe transportation. Tourist lodges are available for stay at places like Piyali, Sajnekhali and Bakkhali.
