Singalila National Park is the highest National Park in West Bengal located on the ridges of the Himalayas. It is in an area of 78 sq kms with beautiful forests of rhododendron, alpine valley and rare orchids. The vegetation consists of Oak, Fir, Juniper, Mailing Bamboo, Buk, Bhujpatra, Pine Hemlock, Magnolia and many other trees. Animals like Exotic Panda, Pangolin, Barking Deer, Himalayan Black Bear, Boar, Leopard Cat, Serow, Yellow-throated Marten and birds like Golden Breasted Fulvetta, Scarlet Minivet, Kalij Pheasant, Blood Pheasant, Old World babblers, etc are major attractions of the park.

Apart from the rich diversity, it is also a delight to see the mesmerizing view of the Himalayas over the large cover of forests. Singalila National Park is a famous birding spot in the Himalayas as it attracts a lot of birds during the blooming seasons. It can be rightly said that it is a birder’s delight. Apart from this, tourists and adventure lovers can enjoy trekking and camping in this stunning place. Sandakphu and Phalut which are in Singalila are the most favored destinations for trekking in the world. The best time to visit this park is between March to June and September to December.

The nearest airport is Bagdogra, 90 kms from Darjeeling. There are regular flights from this place to New Delhi, Kolkata and Guwahati. New Jalpaiguri which is 80 kms from Darjeeling is the main railway station. One can get accommodation in Trekker’s Hut and Tents. Many guest houses and lodges are there to cater to the tourists in Manebhanjan.
