The Indian state of West Bengal has many scenic places to visit. One such place in the land of great personalities is Mayapur-the haven of the immortal lovers Radha-Krishna. It is also known as the birth place of the most recognized devotee of Lord Krishna, Shri Chaitanyadev Mahaprabhu, at the confluence of the sacred river Ganga with the Jalangi. Being highly attractive and picturesque at the banks of river Hoogly, Mayapur is a popular tourist place.

There are many attractive places in and around the city. Mainly it is well known for its Radha- Krishna temples throughout the place. Some important pilgrim centers are the Chandrodaya temple, Samadhi of Prabhupada, Shri Chaitanya Math, Chand Kazi's Samadhi and Goswami Maharaj Temple. There are many ISCON temples here that are a symbol of National Integrity. Devotees from all over the world visit Mayapur to offer prayers to Lord Krishna.

Pilgrims throng in thousands to these temples during the Hindu festival of Holi, 'Dol Jatra'. The air fills with the mantra of 'Hare Krishna Hare Rama' all through. The chanting gives a spiritual feeling to every individual and forgetting all the pains, desires and wants of life, the devotees dance to the rhythm merrily. A perfect atmosphere gets built up to purify the souls and one’s self in the presence of God. The music of the dholak, khanjani, Taal, harmonium, tabla (Indian classical musical instruments) draws you to the heaven.

The land of peace has many Ashrams at the ISCON temple where devotees can take rest. Six guest houses accommodating about three thousand pilgrims a night. There are large dining halls where upto a thousand of people can savor the Maha Prasad of Lord Krishna at a time. A huge number of visitors are offered to take chance to serve the Mayapur Gosala- the cows, a sacred icon of the Hindus.
