The Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary is situated 78 kms from Siliguri in the district of Darjeeling. It is near the NH31 which connects North East India to other places of India. It is very close to the Gorumara National Park and lies on the way to Dooars across the River Teesta. The sanctuary covers an area of 96 sq kms & is known for being a habitat of numerous elephants, animals like the Royal Bengal Tiger, deer, reptiles, etc., and birds. It also houses beautiful and rare flowers, plants and trees. The added attraction of the Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary is bird watching as various kinds of birds like Peafowl, Green pigeon, Hornbill, Black partridges; Roller, Florican and many more can be seen.

The best time to visit the sanctuary is between September and March. The maximum temperature goes to 42 degree Celsius whereas the minimum is 14 degree Celsius. It will be a pleasure for tourists to stay in eco friendly cottages where local dishes in village style are served apart from tribal dance in the evening.

Bagdogra is the nearest airport and New Jalpaiguri is the nearest railhead. The sanctuary is well connected by road and private buses are available from Lataguri.
