The Rudrasagar Lake is recognized as the wetland of River Gomti. It is a floodplain and is identified by the Ministry of Environment and Forest, of the Indian Government. Taking into consideration, its socio – economic & ecological significance, it has been recorded as a place of national importance. Rudrasagar, spreads over an area of approximately 3 to 5 Sq Kms. This lake is located just 50 to 55 Kms away from Agartala, the capital city of Tripura. The Lake is a reservoir of natural sedimentation that receives its flow from the three perennial streams - Durlavnaraya cherra, Noacherra and Kemtali cherra.

Rudrasagar Lake annually houses a large number of migratory birds in the winters. This scenic view of birds occupying their places on the lake is a treat for the eyes. The beautiful landscape adds to the beauty of the lake. It's one of the best places in Tripura to spend a good time with the extreme beauty of the nature. Bird watchers and nature lovers can explore a number of things here and add up information to their diaries.
