About the lake:

Tsomgo Lake is one such destination to marvel the splendor of Sikkim. About 40 Kms from the capital city Gangtok is fed by the glaciers originating from the Himalayas is at an altitude of 3780 m.  Sometimes icy, beautiful lake has a way that meets the Nath La on the north side and straight leads to the Chinese border to the north- east some 5 Kms away. It's a sacred lake worshipped by the Sikkimese.  The temple of Lord Shiva, the flowers & other plantations and the placid cool water of the lake add to the grandeur of the beauty of the spot.

Things to do:

Trekking can be enjoyed along the lake side. Different birds and a variety of flora can be observed.


Accommodation is very handy in Gangtok. A pick from the tourist lodges, hotels, hostels, tourist cottages can be made to the spot.

How to reach there:

The Tsomgo Lake is easily approachable from the capital city Gangtok by air, rail & roadways.

Nearest airport is Bagdogra (West Bengal 124 kms.), which is further connected to Gangtok by a helicopter. Two nearest railway station - Siliguri (114 km), New Jalpaiguri (125 km)
Gangtok is well connected with all the roads to Siliguri, Kalimpong, and Gangtok etc. Besides Landrovers
Private Taxis, Jeeps ply regular basis to Gangtok.
