One such place is the Kachupuri Lake in Yuksom.

About the lake:


The lake is of great importance to the Sikkimese. It is one of the most sacred lakes that are fed by the glaciers generating from the Himalayas. Yuksom is a very small village in Sikkim but a very calm & peaceful place to visit. The gorgeous painting of the nature & the cool and fresh atmosphere invites tourists to visit from afar. One feels in heaven when lingers around in the soothing air of Yoksom. The first capital of Sikkim. It's the perfect place for those who don't want get-away with the crowd & wish to spend some quality time with family & friends. Although the lake remains covered by the forest it is supposed that the birds don’t allow even a single leaf to float on the surface of the lake.

Things to do:


Trekking to the Kachupuri Lake from Yoksom is preferred. The steep slopes can be enjoyed as a matter of adventure. A bit of eating can be done in the traditional vegetarian restaurants. A shopping of local things can also be favored. The Kanchenjunga National Park is the nearby attraction to visit.

Some private hotels and a beautiful government guest house is available for the tourists to comfort selves in Yoksom. Other major hotels & lodges are handy in Gangtok & other places of Sikkim. A private too is available for the better guidance of the place.

How to get here:


5 hours run from Gezing is the easiest using shared or private jeeps.

Nearest Airport– Bagdogra. Nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri (150 km from Yuksom). Taxis & other vehicles are available to reach the spot.
