At a distance of 180 Km from Sawai Madhaopur, Rajashthan State, Ranthambore National Park is one of the largest national parks in northern India. It is declared as national park under the Project Tiger.

Things to Do & See:

Flora & Fauna: The Park is rich in Flora & Fauna. Ranthambore National Park is known for its rich population of Asiatic tigers as compared to other sanctuary. Even during the day time, tigers can be spotted. Nilgai, Leopard, wild boar, dhole, sambhar, hyena, sloth bear and chital are the other major wild animals. The park has varied species of resident and migratory birds including pelicans, flamingos, Indian grey horn bills, parakeets etc. The major reptiles include crocodiles, snakes etc.

Because of dry deciduous type, it has a variety of flora & is one of the main sites for largest banyan trees.

Activities: Main attractions include special tiger tours, birdwatching tours etc. Each ride takes near about 3 hrs.

Ranthambore fortress and Padam Taloo are the places to see within the park. Historical cities like Agra, Jaipur are other attractions around the Ranthambore Park.

Best time to visit: November-May

How to Reach?

By air: Sawai Madhopur does not have an airport of its own. The nearest airport is at Jaipur(180kms).

By road: The town of Sawai Madhopur is well networked by road to many important cities.

By rail: Sawai Madhopur has a railway station of its own & linked to major railway stations.


The best way one can accomplish this is by staying in tents and camps in the midst of nature. Sher Bagh, Aman-i-Khas: Tiger Den Resort, are few places to stay.
