A man made wetland, Kanjli Wetland, situated in the Kapurthala district of Punjab, India. It was created in 1870 so that irrigation facilities can be provided to the vicinity. After analyzing the water of the Wetland by the Punjab Pollution Control Board, water quality confirms to ‘B’ Grade & sometimes degrades to 'D' especially during the month of December.

Things to Do & See:

If flora & fauna is to be considered, the wetland is just reasonable. Resident & migratory birds like white eyed pochard, wigeaon and pintail can be found.

Indian Civet, Mongoose, squirrel are some of the mammalian fauna which can be seen on this wetland.

Boating facilities are available so one can enjoy fishing & explore the lake & nearby jungle.

Moorish Mosque, Gurudwara Ber Sahib, Jagatjit Club having resemblance with Acropolis of Athens are few of the nearby attractions to see.

How to Reach?

The Kanjli Wetland around the village Kanjli is 4 km from the Kapurthala town. Kapurthala is closer to Jalandhar (19 kms) which is one of the main railway junction of the Punjab region. Nearest airport is Amritsar (approx 66 km). The city is located on Jalandhar-Ferozepur road, so public & private bus services are available here.


As Kapurthala is not a big city, accommodation is available with some limitations of standard. Shiven Hotel,Taj Regency, Gardenia Hotel & Restaurants are the available options. As Jalandhar is the nearest city to Kapurthala, many good options are available here.
