Jagannath Temple in Puri is a famous temple Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Jagannath (Vishnu) located in Puri, Orissa. Jagannath is combination of Sanskrit word Jagat (universe) and Nath (Lord) hence it means 'Lord of the Universe'. This temple was constructed by Raja Ananta Varman Chodaganga Dev in 12th century A.D. There are wooden images of Jagannath Balabhadra and Subhadra (brother and sister of Krishna) installed in the temple.

Puri is one of the most sacred pilgrimages in India and one of the four 'Dhamas' of the Hindu religion. The Temple has a lovely artistic design which depicts the traditional Orissan style of architecture. This is a vast temple which occupies the area of over 400000sq ft and is bounded by a 20 feet high wall. The compound in the temple consists of 120 shrines. This temple stands on an elevated surface of stone and has four halls and four gates. This temple has world’s largest kitchen which feeds thousand of devotees every day.

Festivals: Lots of festivals are celebrated in this temple which includes famous Rath Yatra's along with Karkat or dakshinayana sankranti, Chitalagi amabashya – Shravana, Rahurekha lagi – Bhadraba, Krishnana janma, Dasahara, chaturdashi etc.
