Madh Island is situated in the north-west coast of Mumbai with several small fishing villages and farmlands. Kolis and East Indian Roman Catholics are the main communities of the area.

The Madh Island Beach is developed into an admirable picnic & party spot. It is mostly popular for its bungalows belonging to the elite of Mumbai. Nowadays, throwing a party here becomes a "status symbol" as most of the ravishing parties are thrown by the high societies. It is advisable not to swim on this beach due to risk of heavy currents & shifting sands. Madh Fort constructed by the Portuguese, which was used as a watchtower, is a good place to visit here.

The places nearby Madh Island include a popular picnic spot Ghodbunder & the Kanheri Caves consisting of 109 Buddhist caves located in the centre of Sanjay Gandhi National Park.  Erangal village is one of the most popular spots because of the famous Erangal Beach. During the low tide, enjoy a walk from Dana Paani Beach in Erangal to Aksa Beach. The ancient Portuguese church of St. Bonaventure is on Erangal Beach. Here, the local celebration of the Feast day of St. Bonaventure is very appealing and is held on the second Sunday of January every year.
