The Gateway of India was constructed to memorialize the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to Bombay in December 1911. The foundation stone was laid on March 31, 1913 & handed over in December, 1924. It is situated on Apollo Bunder of South Mumbai.

Major Attractions:


The majestically positioned Gateway of India, a grand historical monument is an identity of Mumbai. This famous monument is the starting point for most tourists. It is designed in very artistic way having touch of Hindu & Muslim style architecture. In the night, the beaming of the lights adds the beauty to the monument & so looks beautiful. The statues of the King Chhatrapati Shivaji and Swami Vivekananda to the adjacent place enhance the appeal of this monument.

Elephanta Caves, a journey of couple of hours from the gate way of India by ferry boats is another nearby point of attraction of tourist. When you leaves for Elephanta caves & covers a distance around 500 mtrs, the view of this monument & adjacent area is stunning.  It is a famous place for the celebration of New Year.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Jahangir Art Gallery, Prince of Wales Museum is the other point of interest.
