Pench National Park is located in the Seoni District of Southern Madhya Pradesh which is 80 km from Nagpur District of Maharashtra. This park is named after Pench River meandering through the park from North to South. Pench has been included under the umbrella of "Project Tiger" as the 19th Project Tiger Reserve recently in 1992.

The surging territory of Pench is covered with small hills and well stocking teak and mix forest. The main flora here is Teak, Saja, Bija, Lendia, Haldu, Dhaora, Aonla, Amaltas etc. And the ground is enclosed with a number of grasses, bushes, herbs and shrubs astounding with Kullu trees scattering around singly in the forests is noticeable among hues of green. The old plantations of Teak and Bamboo add orderly panorama in the general wilderness.

Tiger is the main species and Cheetal, Sambar and Nilgai are commonly seen grazing on the open sites on roadsides and banks of river & reservoir in this park. Jackals can be seen in seek of food anywhere in the Park. Packs up to 15 of wild dog can be seen near Chhedia, Jamtara, Bodanala and Pyorthadi areas of this Reserve. Herds of gaur can be marked near streams and bamboo patches commonly in summer months. Sloth beer resides in hilly, rocky out crops and favour mahul bel infested forest. Chnkara is present in very small numbers and is found in open areas around Turia, Telia and Dudhgaon villages.

It is a wonderful park which is rich in flora and fauna having a glorious history. The best time to visit the park is between February and April. It remains closed during the months of July, August and September. The park can be easily accessed by road and railways.
