Gwalior Fort is the pride of entire Madhya Pradesh situated on an isolated hill of about 100 meters above the Gwalior city containing number of historic buildings. This fort is 1000 years old and was built by Raja Man Singh Tomar and it was passed through many rulers from time to time. It is the biggest fort in India. Babur the Mughal Emperor (1483–1531) described it as, "The pearl in the necklace of the forts of Hind".

The Fort is a magnificent edifice blending Hindu and Muslim architecture which is evident and this makes the fort unique and beautiful in itself. The fort consists of priceless valuables as there are huge numbers of points of interests. This fort has kept poets enraptured and historians fascinated all along & still does. The renowned palaces inside the Gwalior Fort include Man Singh Palace, Jauhar Kund, Jahangir Mahal, Gujri Mahal and the Shahjahan Mahal.

Being the biggest fort attraction in the city, many buses have a route to the fort. The fort is open all day but the palaces inside are open for public from 9.30 AM till 5PM. It takes time for one to explore every corner as it encloses many attractions. The fort can be visited throughout the year, but winters are the best as the climate is extremely pleasant and the environment is less dusty. This fort has made durable mark on the face of the Indian history and now it already shows the special place in the heart.
