The beautiful hill station of Ponmudi is located at a distance of 61 km north-east of Thiruvananthapuram city, Kerala. Ponmud means 'Golden Crown' in Malayalam which truly glitters amongst the hill stations in India. Ponmudi, Kerala is a tranquil spot located atop hills having scenic view with natural springs that keeps the valley lush green providing blissful true experience with fresh feeling. It is the part of the Western Ghats mountain range that runs parallel to the Arabian Sea. This popular hill station is nearby the beaches of Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum).

Varkala Beach and Aaranmula Boat Race are the major attractions followed by another attraction Agasthyarkoodam, one of the highest peaks in Western Ghats. Ponmudi is pleasant with narrow, winding pathways and cool, green, wooded environs and is home to mountain flowers, butterflies, springs and rivulets. This region is occupied with spice and tea plantations and is dotted with waterfalls and viewpoints. The hill station is perfect for long walks and treks. Tourists may experience the adventure through trekking, hiking, and mountaineering. It is also a beautiful picnic spot. There is a Golden Valley and number of rivers and rapids which is very attractive near Ponmudi.

Places to visit near Ponmudi includes Peppara Wildlife Sanctuary, Agasthyarkoodarn (Agasthyar Park), Bonakkad, and Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary.
