Situated in the Idukki district in Kerala, Munnar is one of the most popular hill-resort towns locating on the Western Ghats. It is the most famous holiday destination and well known as tea-capital of India. This famous hill station derived its name from the Malyalam word 'Munu' which means 'three' and 'aaru' means 'river'. Munnar is located on the joining of three mountain streams - Kundala, Mudrapuzha and Nallathanni. It is a heart stopping beautiful town surrounded by tea and spice plantations, soaked in the atmosphere and also known as Kashmir of South India.

Munnar is a famous tourist spot and beautiful hill resort that attracts tourists as it was declared as Tourist Spot by the Government of India in 2000. It is the queen of hill stations having various plantations of tea, coffee, cardamom and other spices, dense forests and wildlife sanctuaries along with the highest peak in South India. Several protected wildlife areas and the attractive climate in the region attract many tourists who support many hotels, restaurants and transport business in Munnar.

Munnar is rich in Flora and Fauna having exotic species in its wild sanctuaries and forests. Various tourists' attractions in Munnar include Anaimudi, Rajmalai, Eravikulam National Park and Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary. Tourists can indulge themselves in adventure like Forest Trekking, Camping, Angling, Paragliding Golf, Cycling, Boating, followed by a visit to Tea Factory and Coffee Plantation. Reaching Munnar is not a problem as it is connected with various cities in South India and Kerala. The best time to visit Munnar is during the months of September to May.
