Vaishno Devi is one of the holiest pilgrims in the world which is situated on the Trikuta Mountain in Jammu and Kashmir. Vaishno Devi which is also known as Mata Rani and Vaishnavi in Hinduism is a manifestation of Mother Goddess. The famous temple is near the town of Katra in the Reasi district in the state of Jammu and Kashmir which is located at the height of 5200 FT. The distance is approximately 14Km from Katra.

The number of devotees is increasing day by day and approximately 8 million pilgrims visit the temple every year. It is believed that one can reach the shrine only by the Grace of Mata Rani. There are ancient images of three deities, the Mahakali, Mahallaxmi and Mahasaraswati within the cave.

Vaishno Devi can be reached from Jammu by Road, Rail or Air till Katra selecting alternative mode of transport. Katra is situated around 50 kms from Jammu. The Yatra begins from Katra covering 13 kms of terrain on foot to reach the Darbar. Pilgrims have to take the Yatra slip from the Yatra Registration Counter. Pure vegetarian food, drinking water and public utilities are available at outlets along the route. Here pilgrims take bath and proceed. Luggage and leather items should be booked in the cloakrooms. Three famous places to visit are "Baan Ganga", a stream associated with Maa Vaishno Devi starting stiff ascent to the Trikuta range; "Mata's Cave", the snow-capped mountains and forests of Trikuta Mountain forming a part of lower Himalayas. On reaching Bhavan, token of Prasad can be bought; "Bhairon Mandir" which is believed that the journey is complete after visiting this shrine.

There are free as well as rented accommodation facilities available for the pilgrims at Jammu, Katra and along the Holy track. There are luxury hotels like The Vaishnodevi Hotel having all the facilities. Pilgrims can accommodate themselves according to their budget and convenience.
