Ramnagar Wildlife Sanctuary is situated 6 km away from Jammu city occupying an area of 31 sq km. It is a wondrous wild world where uncommon wild animals and upland birds are spotted. The Ramnagar Wildlife Sanctuary sustains 8 species of mammals including nilgai and barking deer. The main species include nilgai, barking deer, wild boar, rhesus monkey etc. It also houses 15 species of birds in the ecosystem. Main birds include Mynah, Blue Rock Pigeon, Peafowl, Red Jungle Fowl, Jungle Crow, Golden Oriole, and White Cheeked Bulbul. Large variety of animals can be found in Ramnagar Wildlife Sanctuary of Jammu and Kashmir.

The best season to see mammals is from September to March and for bird viewing is from March to May. For tours you will have to secure passes or permits that are issued at the Regional Wildlife Warden in Jammu, India. There are many options for accommodation in Jammu. Regular bus facilities are available connecting Ramnagar National Park to Jammu. Spending the night inside the sanctuary in the two bedroom hut that is available can add more adventure to your tour.
