Puramandal Mela is held at Puramandal located at a distance of 39 km from Jammu. Puramandal Mela is the celebration of the marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, the darling daughter of the King of the Himalayas who arranged the marriage of his daughter with Lord Shiva after lot of hesitation. So, the Puramandal Mela in Jammu is a spectacular event held yearly at Kashmir with tremendous enthusiasm and zeal.
This fair continues for three days during which people wear their best clothes & rush to the fair to enjoy the various materials like winter garments, fashion accessories, gent's costumes and accomplices available here. It is the place of offering worship to during this time. People also celebrate Shivratri at this time in Jammu and it is surrounded with the shrines of Peer Koh, the Ranbireshwar Temple and Panjbhatkar Temple gaining special significance.
This festival is usually celebrated in the month of February or March on the eve of the Shivratri Festival. People pray, fast and take holy dips during this festival.
