
Ibrahim Lodhi's Tomb, Haryana
The tomb of Ibrahim Lodhi is situated near Tehsil office at Panipat. This tomb is the reflection of rich architectural skills of the ancient times. The tomb was built by the able ruler "Sher Shah Suri" to commemorate the valiant and courageous Muslim ruler, Ibrahim Lodhi. The able general was defeated by his uncle and the Mughal ruler "Babur" at the time of "First Battle of Panipat" in the year 1526. The tomb is a simple rectangular block on a high platform lead by a flight of steps made of lakhori bricks. It was renovated by the British and an inscription mentioning Ibrahim Lodhi's defeat at the hands of Babur and the renovation was included by them in 1866.
Nearby attractions include Kabuli Shah Mosque and Dargah of Bu Ali Shah Qalandar following Fort and Jain temples. Panipat is situated on the Ambala- kurukshetra-Delhi route which is well connected by bus services. The tomb attracts several tourists who are completely overwhelmed at the sight of the splendid mausoleum that bears testimony to the fierce historic battle. Government of Haryana has taken the responsibility to make the historic spot a tourist friendly attraction.
