Feroze Shah's Palace, Haryana

Feroze Shah's Palace was constructed as a fort by Feroze Shah Tughlaq (a legendry Indian monarch). The fort was also called as Hissar-e-Firoza (fort of Feroze). He dug canals from Yamuna and Ghaggar rivers to irrigate the dry land. The palace is a grand structure complete with a basement and a mosque which is built of rubble stonework covered with thick lime plaster. Its arches are supported on sandstone carved pillars of Hindu temples. The palace complex consists of an open courtyard on the side of which is placed two or three storied structures.

In the massive western wall of the palace there is a passage having steps leading to the terrace meant for guarding the palace. The eastern side of the palace contains some structures in red sandstone, which are of later origin like the lotus-tank situated on the terrace. Tourists can plan their accommodation nearby according to their budget and convenience.
