Located at a distance of 46 kilometers from Vadodara City, Pavagadh, at an elevation of 2,700 feet above mean sea level, is a famous hill station of Gujarat State. This historic tourist destination is home to several mosques, temples and regal monuments, attracts thousands of pilgrims of many faiths every day. Pavagadh is predominantly a tribal area and a gateway to Panchmahal occupying the eastern end of Gujarat State.
Mahakali Temple
Believed to be one of the 51 Shakti Peeths, Mahakali, the dark mother is the presiding deity of this famous Hindu and Muslim pilgrimage center. Sharing a loving and intimate bond with her devotees, she is said to have been born from the brow of goddess Durga. This pre-historic Mahakali Temple attracts millions of visitors every year, however, has a rich, rare, but little known history from the past.
Champaner-Pavgadh Archeological Park
This site holds one of the only complete and unchanged Islamic pre-Mughal city, featuring pre-historic vestiges, fortifications, palaces, religious monuments, residential buildings, agricultural structures and water installations belonging from the 8th to the 14th centuries. The Champaner-Pavgadh Archeological Park also presents a concentration of unexcavated archeological, historic, and living cultural heritage properties within an impressive landscape.

- Several scenic trekking & hiking opportunities, including waterfalls are available during monsoon time.
- Machi Haveli – The remains of a royal palace are still available at Machi alongside several rest-houses, holiday homes and small hotels located here. A ropeway facility is available for visitors from Machi to reach the Mahakali Temple.
- The Sadanshah Pir Dargah, another locally revered pilgrim site is also located above the Mahakali Temple.
- The picturesque Teliya Talav and the Dudhia Talav.
