The renowned Naval Aviation Museum and its exhibits in Goa offer glorious tribute to the start and evolution of the Indian Naval Wing. The Goa Naval Aviation Museum is unique, as it was the first museum that was setup in Asia and it showcases a line of exclusive warbirds that served the sovereignty of the land. Inaugurated on October 12, 1998, the Naval Aviation Museum is located on the Vasco-Bogmalo road in Dabolim, 6 kilometers from Vasco da Gama. This museum is a popular tourist attraction, where visitors will find the exhibits like vintage aircrafts, weapons, armaments and photo gallery which are divided into two sections, an out-door exhibit and a number of indoor galleries.

Naval Aviation Museum Exhibits / Collections

Started with just six aircrafts, the Naval Aviation Museum now has grown into one of India's largest naval museums. The impressive collection of 12 royal aircrafts that stand proudly at the museum are the major attraction which are the anti- submarine Alize, the multi-role Dove, Sea Hawk (an indo-pak war veteran), Super Constellation, Giant Lockheed L-1049G, the jet- trainer Vampire, Hughes-Hu 296c (Indian navy's first helicopter) Sealand and Sea Harrier.

Outdoor Section: The outdoor section of the Naval Aviation Museum is basically a huge park which houses planes and helicopters, few dates back to the 1940s. The outdoor section of the museum has the Super Constellation, Giant Lockheed L-1049G purchased by the navy from the Indian Air Force.

Indoor Section: The indoor section of the museum provides information about key battles in which the Indian Air and Naval forces have participated. Massive replicas of aircraft carriers like INS Vikrant and INS Viraat are kept on display inside. The inside section is divided into few special rooms. "Armament" is a section displaying a variety of bombs, vintage torpedoes, sensors and cannon used by naval aircraft over the ages. "Attire", another section here exhibits the series of uniforms of Indian Air and Naval forces. There is a section in this museum named, "Shradhanjali", which is basically a meditation hall and a place to pay tribute to the soldiers of India.

Multimedia Games Section: The museum has recently added a multimedia games section that is a huge hit among the children and adults.

Timings: Open from 10.00 am. to 5.00 p.m. on all days except Mondays.
