Panaji, also known as Panjim, the capital city of Goa, is one of the most popular tourists destination is the country for almost all types of tourists from various parts of the globe. Panaji, which means "the land that does not flood", is located on the banks of the Mandovi River and bounded by the Arabian Sea, is an important part of the North Goa district. Panaji was made capital city by the Portuguese, but after an epidemic forced them to abandon the old capital. The Portuguese heritage is well preserved in Panaji city of Goa, with its Baroque architecture, pretty villas, narrow winding streets, Old Portuguese style houses, red tiled roofs, overhanging balconies and perfect gardens with tall Gulmohar trees. Beautiful Catholic churches and several small cafes and bars are real Panaji.

  • Panaji Riverfront: The Panaji Riverfront offer tourists some of the popular sights of Panaji. The Panaji Jetty, Abbe Faria statue and small crafts like barges, yachts and trawlers are few attractions here.
  • Our Lady of Immaculate Conception: Our Lady of Immaculate Conception is the main church of the town which was built in 1541. It is reminiscent of the church at Reis Magos.
  • Mahalaxmi Temple: The Mahalaxmi Temple symbolizes the Hindu community, predominates the state of Goa.
  • Adil Shahi Palace: Also known as Idalcao Palace, this Palace was originally built by Sultan Adil Shah of Bijapur and served as an official residence for most Portuguese viceroys before leaving for Portugal.

Miramar Beach and Calangute Beach are other prime attractions of Panaji City, Goa.

Church of Our Lady of The Immaculate Conception is one of the prime attractions in Panaji city of Goa. Situated in heart of Panjim in Goa, this church is one of the first churches that were built in Goa. Conception was build in 1540 AD and was under restoration and renewal in 1619 AD. Churches in Goa are basically well known for their marvelous amalgamation of Indian and Portuguese architecture.
