Mapusa is one of the five major cities in Goa, famous for its Parade and colorful Markets. Mapusa is derived from a Konkani term, 'map', which means measure and 'sa' means fill, which indicates the commercial nature of the town. This is the capital of Bardez taluka, North Goa and lies at close proximity to few popular attractions such as "Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary" Panaji and about 10 km inland from the Calangute, Baga, Anjuna and Vagator beaches.
