Udanti Wildlife Sanctuary, located in the Raipur district of Chhattisgarh is renowned for its wildlife attractions. Even though the sanctuary encompasses an area of about 232 square kilometers, the wide variety of flora and fauna found here is its major attraction. It was established in the year 1983 under the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972. The overall topography of the area features broken masses of land that passes through innumerable hill ranges which are intercepted by stripes of plains. The sanctuary derived its name from the Udanti River that flows from the west to east and covers major portion of the sanctuary. The main wildlife attraction at Udanti Sanctuary is the endangered Wild Buffalos.

Udanti Wildlife Sanctuary is home to wide variety of Tropical Dry Peninsular Sal forests and Southern Tropical Dry Deciduous Mixed Forests. Major areas of the sanctuary is covered by Teak, Sal, Salai, Bamboo, Mahul, Semal, Mahua, Aonwla, Tendu, Harra and Ber species. Wildlife found in the sanctuary includes Wild Buffalos, Panthers, Tigers, Chital, Four-horned Antelopes, Chinkara, Black Buck, Sambar, Nilgai, Jungle cat, Barking Deer, Sloth bear, Gaur, Wild dog, Porcupine, Monkey, Jackals, Bison, Striped Hyena, Fox, Cobras, Pythons etc. It is also home to different species of resident and migratory birds including Parrots, Bulbul, Peafowl, Racket-Tailed Drongos, Egrets, Heron, Magpie Robin, Lesser Whistling Teal, Pintail, Rollers and Herons.
