
Rang Ghar Sibsagar
Hundreds of buses regularly ply from Jorhat, Dibrugarh and Guwahati to Sibsagar Town which is situated at a distance of 360 kilometers to the northeast of Guwahati. This heritage destination of Assam was once the capital city then known as Rangpur, of the Ahom rulers who dominated Assam for more than 600 years. Also known as 'Borpukhuri', a 257-acre.
Sibsagar water-tank located at the center of the town is the main feature of this town. Conveniently connected through rail and road, Simaluguri Railway Station at a distance of 16 kilometers from Sibsagar, is the nearest on the Tinsukia-Guwahati sector of the North East Frontier Railways. Buses, taxis and other modes of transport are comfortably available for movement between Simaluguri and Sibsagar Town.
Rang Ghar
Built by King Pramutta Singha, this double-storey oval-shaped amphitheatre with a roof is shaped like an inverted boat. This is the place where the Ahom kings sat and watched elephant fights and other sporting events from.
Ahom Museum
This museum stores several artifacts and items of the Ahom rulers, including swords, clothes, manuscripts, goblets and platters. The Tai Ahom Museum located along the bank of Sibsagar Tank is however a recent addition to the Sibsagar tourist attractions.
