Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the West Kameng District of Arunachal Pradesh, India. This is a beautiful wildlife sanctuary which is a popular Bomdilla tourist attraction. Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary is basically a protected area in the Himalayan foothills of Arunachal Pradesh. Covering an area of 217 Sqkm Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary, shelters a wide variety of wild animal and different bird species. The lush green surroundings and vegetation of the sanctuary is wide-ranging, impressive and breathtaking.

Fauna at Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary

The dazzling wildlife of Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary will certainly amaze the visitors, as it is home to at least 15 species of mammals and spectacular wild beasts such as the endangered Capped Langur, Bengal tiger, Asian Elephant, Red Panda, Asiatic Black Bear and the vulnerable Assamese Macaque, Arunachal Macaque and Gaur. Amongst the mammals Eaglenest is also home to around 454 species of birds and 34 species of amphibians, 24 species of snakes and 7 species of lizards including 3 geckos, 3 agamids and 4 skinks. This beautiful sanctuary also has 165 species of colorful butterflies.

How to Reach Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary

  • Airport: The nearest airport is Tezpur and from Tezpur (Assam) one can easily reach the sanctuary.
  • Railhead: The nearest railway head is at Bhalukpong.
  • Road Transport: The Sanctuary is connected by the Tawang - Tezpur road, offering regular bus and taxi service between Tawang / Itanagar and Tenga (Bomdila).
