Tirupathi Balaji Temple dedicated to Lord Venkateswara is one of the most sacred Hindu pilgrimage centers. Located just 10 km from the city center of Tirupati in the Eastern Ghat in Chittoor district, it is the richest Hindu Temple of the world and is considered a must sacred site to visit for every Hindu pilgrim. The popularity of this temple can be gauged from the fact that every day around 60000 devotees visit the temple and on special days the number reaches the 200000 mark.

Te ancient and sacred temple of Sri Venkateswara has been visited by rulers of various dynasties such as Pallavas, Cholas, Pandyas and the kings and chieftains of Vijayanagar. The temple complex features number of small shrines along with the main shrine where the idol of Lord Venkateswara - - the 'Lord of Seven Hills' is situated. The construction of the temple is done in Dravidian style and features three enclosures known as "Prakarams" and a dome on the main shrine called as 'Vimana'. The temple complex also features the statues of Vijayanagara King Krishnadevaraya and his spouse.

The annual festival called “Brahmotsavam” held for nine days in September is the largest festival, attracting pilgrims and tourists from India and abroad. Apart from this ritual, there are Daily, Weekly and Periodical 'Sevas' and 'Utsavams' performed to the Lord.
