Puttaparthi is a small town located in the Anantpur district of Andhra Pradesh. It is the birth place and the residence of the notable spiritual guru Satya Sai Baba who recently left this world on 24th April 2011. Puttaparthi was a secluded and backward village of Andhra Pradesh but got world-wide recognition because of Satya Sai Baba and has become a divine pilgrimage center of the world. The main attraction of the town is Baba's Prasanthi Nilayam ashram.

Satya Sai Baba used to call himself the reincarnation of Sai Baba of Shirdi which lies in Maharashtra. Devotees and tourists from all corners of the globe make it a point to come here for getting the divine blessings of the Baba, spend some time at the ashram and listen to his discourses. The income generated from the ashram in the form of offerings and gifts are u used for a number of public utility services. Although there is not much to see and explore in terms of attractions, the ashram itself is the major tourist attraction in Puttaparthi.

By Air: Bangalore International Airport is about 250 Km from the ashram. The domestic Satya Sai Airport is about 6 km away from the Ashram.     
By Rail: The nearest railway station is at Dharmavaram, very well connected to Puttaparthi by bus.
By Road: It is well connected from Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad by road.
