Established in 1994 near Himayatsagar Lake, Mrugavani National Park spread on 700 acre of densely forested land is an ideal excursion and wildlife vacation destination in Andhra Pradesh. The park is located only 25 km from Hyderabad and boasts of more than 600 species of plants and abundant wild animals. Tourist are greeted with wide varieties of animals such as Wild Boar, Jackals, Foxes, Porcupines, Black Naped Hare, Monitor Lizards, Forest Cat, Civet Cat, Mongoose, Cheetal Or Spotted Deer, Sambar along with numerous reptile species that include Pythons, Cobra, Rat Snakes, Russell's Viper, Monitor Lizard and much more.

Bird watchers are in for a treat as they get to view birds like Peacocks, Quails, Warblers, Babblers, Flower Peckers, Partridges, Lapwings, Ducks and Curlews. The large variety of plant species at the park includes Teak, Rosewood, Neem, Bamboo, Sandalwood and more. Tourists get a chance to view the animals from close quarters via the watch tower and a view point located inside the park. To attract visitors throughout the year, snake shows are being conducted on a regular basis. The park also houses an Environmental Education Center, Auditorium, Library and Museum featuring wildlife exhibits.
