Hussain Sagar Lake is located just 2 km from Hyderabad city center. It is regarded as one of the most iconic landmarks of Hyderabad. Built in 1562 by Ibrahim Qutub Shah, the lake has got the distinction of being the largest man-made Lake in Asia. The twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad are linked to each other by this lake. The main attraction at the lake is the large monolithic statue of the Gautam Buddha standing on an erected platform in the middle of the lake.

The area where the lake is placed is called "Tank Bund". This area got an excellent facelift with the addition of dancing water fountains, colorful lights and installation of around 33 well sculptured bronze statues of historical and eminent personalities of Hyderabad and Andhra Pradesh. Hussain Sagar Lake is surrounded with lush greenery on all sides with Indira Park to its east, Sanjeevaiah Park to the north, Lumbini Park in the south and a flourishing green belt in between the Raj Bhavan road and the Necklace Road.

Hussain Sagar Lake is major spot of tourist attraction in Hyderabad. Thousands of locals as well as residents make it a point to come here for picnicking and spending some leisure time with their families and friends. The massive statue of Buddha in the middle of the lake measuring 16 meter and weighing 350-tonne and entirely made of white granite is listed amongst the major attraction for tourists in Hyderabad.
