AP State Museum formerly known as Hyderabad Museum was established in 1928 by Nizam VII of the erstwhile Hyderabad State. The museum building situated in the beautiful Public Garden of Hyderabad is a fine example of the Indo-Saracen style of architecture. The museum was established with an objective of preserving the rich cultural heritage of the state of Andhra Pradesh. The fabulous collection of art and artifacts at AP State Museum has been gathered by exploration and excavation of historical sites as well as by preserving historically important monuments.

The fine collection of objects showcased in the AP State Museum in Hyderabad reminds us of the rich historical past of India. The museum features various galleries such as Buddhist gallery, Brahmanical gallery, Jain gallery, Bronze gallery, Arms & Armor gallery, Numismatics gallery, Ajanta gallery and Paintings gallery. Each gallery has an exquisite and priceless collection of arts and artifacts. Some of the top attractions at AP state Museum include Egyptian Mummy, variety of textiles, Bidriware, Chinaware and Porcelain, letters written by Mahatma Gandhi, 1 lakh silver coins, 14,000 gold coins and innumerable lead, copper coins belonging to various dynasties, wooden chariot and much more.


The AP State Museum in Hyderabad is open on all days from 10 am till 5.30 pm on all days except Fridays.
